CIoTA Honors Rt Hon. Aminu Bello Masari CFR with Honorary Fellowship at National Transport Conference

The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA) has conferred an honorary fellowship on Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari, former Governor of Katsina State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives at CIoTA’s 6th National Conference on Transportation, held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

The fellowship is in recognition of Masari’s substantial contributions to the transport sector, particularly in Katsina State.

In his remarks, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari called for comprehensive reforms in Nigeria’s transportation sector, highlighting the disorder stemming from lack of proper regulation.

Rt Hon Masari urged transportation professionals to prioritize discussions on essential topics, including the standardization of national road infrastructure, reintroducing toll gates, and developing a professionally managed system for a safer and more efficient transport network across Nigeria.

He stressed the need to match road usage with designated load capacities, advocating for the implementation of weighbridges and designated terminals for heavy vehicles as crucial steps toward  a sustainable road Infrastructure which is vital for an efficient transportation system.

The 2024 National Transport Conference, themed Sustainable Transportation in a Disruptive Era: The Challenges of Developing Countries, is anticipated to be a landmark event, bringing forward key strategies for achieving sustainable solutions for Nigeria’s future.
